Choosing a PEO in Georgia

Georgia is one of the most business-friendly states in the Southeast, with a regulatory environment that generally favors employers. Georgia has a state minimum wage of $5.15 per hour, but employers covered by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act must pay the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour — which applies to the vast majority of Georgia businesses. There is no state income surtax and no state-level paid sick leave mandate, keeping the compliance burden relatively low compared to many other states.

Georgia is a right-to-work state, meaning employees cannot be required to join a union or pay union dues as a condition of employment. Georgia follows the federal WARN Act for mass layoff notifications, requiring 60 days advance notice for layoffs affecting 50 or more employees at a single location.
